1976 Bay Window Busses up to 1986 Vanagon all had the same screen. There was a change in the corner style of the 87-88 Vanagon. Here is how to tell which one you have. From outside the Vanagon with the top up look at the bottom edge of the screen. If the Screen is just sewn into the bottom seam so it looks like it just ends, Then you have the Up to 86 Screen. IF you look at the bottom seam and you can see sewing through the screen and it is Rolled over on the OUTER Bottom edge then you have the 87-88. The TAN Pictures show the up to 86 Screen the 1 Picture that is Light Gray is the one with the Screen sewn on the outside of the canvas.
There is a $5.00 Upcharge for International orders on this item to cover shipping costs. It will ship 1st Class International Mail.
Tools and Supplies needed are: Step ladder / Sharp Scissors. Steps are: (From the inside of the camper, on a step stool)
*** Test fit without Gluing into the van if you have a 87. We Will not exchange if you have started or damaged the new screen. The top curved corners are a tighter radius then the early. If there is way to much screen for the top corners then you will need the early screen. Mail Back the Screen ONLY. We will send out a new one once received back.
Step # 1) Pin (You may need to use pliers to remove and install pins) on lower straight section 1st once centered, glue in small sections (Use Glue lightly NOT TO MUCH). Then remove pins as glue is Bonding (You will be gluing to the Privacy panel as low as you can get it). You will need to cut the stitching at the Corner where the Zipper / Privacy / screen all meet( I use a new Razor blade, included in the kit ). (DO NOT CUT THE CANVAS)
Step # 2) With Screen Zipped up, and Privacy unzipped from inside of the camper. Pin the "NEW Screen" in to where zipper is Sewn to "old" screen. You can also use Binder clips from an office supply store. ( DO NOT CUT OUT OLD SCREEN out yet! )Work in Sections of about 3 to 5 inches at a time. Once Centered and looking good, Unzip and glue. Pull pins as you go. ( TAKE YOUR TIME. THIS IS NOT A RACE!!! )
Step # 3) Let the screen sit for about 15 minutes then make sure you have all your pins out. Zip up carefully, Make sure you didn't miss a section. You can also Glue the section that you cut with a Razor Blade to close up the seam. Once everything is dry Unzip the Screen and CAREFULLY cut the "OLD" screen out as close to where it is sewn into the edge.
